Privacy policy
The short version: Nocturne doesn't collect any data about you. Your PDFs are converted on your Mac and never leave it.
What Nocturne does not do
- No account, sign-in or email address is ever asked for.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code is included.
- Nocturne has no network access. macOS runs it in a sandbox without permission to connect to the internet, so nothing can be sent anywhere, and nothing is sold or shared.
Your files
Nocturne can only read the PDFs you open, drop onto it or pass to it from Shortcuts, and it only writes where you choose to save. Every conversion runs entirely on your Mac. If a PDF has a password, Nocturne uses it only to open the file and to lock the dark copy with it; the password is never stored.
What is stored on your Mac
- Your settings: theme, custom background colour, photo handling, text brightness, colours, what happens after exporting and the file name ending.
- Up to ten recently opened files, kept as macOS bookmarks so Open Recent can find them even after they move. The bookmarks hold the file's location, not its contents.
This stays in Nocturne's own sandboxed storage and isn't synced to iCloud or any other service.
Children
Nocturne isn't directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Deleting your data
File → Open Recent → Clear Menu removes the recent files list. Deleting the app removes its settings too.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Nocturne will never start collecting data without saying so first.
